Screed

What a screed is: the mortar layer that levels the floor slab before flooring โ€” essential for a durable result.

What does Screed mean?

A screed is the layer of mortar spread over the floor slab to level the surface before the flooring is installed. It can be traditional (cement and sand) or self-levelling, and can embed services such as underfloor heating.

The quality of the screed determines how flat and durable the final floor is: an uneven surface causes differences in level, noise and cracked tiles. That is why it must be laid carefully and given the right drying time.
